The principle of the rotary evaporator is that the sample is heated and decompressed in a spherical glass container, and continuously rotated to increase the evaporation surface area and accelerate the evaporation speed. An evaporation instrument widely used in laboratories. It is suitable for reflux operation, rapid evaporation of large amounts of solvents, concentration of trace components and reaction processes that require stirring. In addition, under the action of the cooler, the hot vapor can be quickly liquefied to accelerate the evaporation rate.

Working principle of rotary evaporator
Rotary evaporators are mainly used for concentration, crystallization, drying, separation and solvent recovery in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biopharmaceutical industries. The principle is to heat the rotating bottle at a constant speed under vacuum conditions, and the material forms a large-area film on the bottle wall and evaporates. The solvent vapor is cooled by the glass condenser and recovered in the collection bottle, which greatly improves the evaporation efficiency. It is especially suitable for the concentration and purification of biological products that are easily decomposed and denatured at high temperature.

Vacuum degree of rotary evaporator
1. The rotary evaporator is composed of vacuum pump and its pipeline, evaporating flask and receiving flask, condenser tube and other components. Among them, the key factors affecting the degree of vacuum are: the power of the vacuum pump and the airtightness of the system. Among them, the equipment includes: vacuum pump, sealing ring and vacuum tube.
2. The lower the vacuum pump limit, the lower the vacuum value of the system. However, the vacuum value that the system can form is determined by two factors: the pressure resistance of the rotary evaporator and the avoidance of bumping when ensuring the distillation efficiency. To set a reasonable vacuum value, the above two factors need to be combined and adjusted by the vacuum controller.
3. Sealing ring: connecting the key components of the seal between the evaporator tube and the condenser tube. Wear resistance and corrosion resistance are the most important performance requirements. Common materials are PTFE and rubber. Among them, the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of PTFE are better than rubber.
4. Vacuum pumps and sealing rings are all easy to wear parts. The vacuum degree of the vacuum pump should be tested frequently during the use process to ensure the stability of its vacuum degree. As a detachable accessory, the sealing ring can be replaced directly. Silicone tubes are often used to replace rubber for vacuum tubes because of their slow aging efficiency.
