Essential Oil Extracted From Petals

Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic and volatile substances extracted from plants. Some plants can extract essential oils in several parts, and some plants can extract essential oils in only one place. Today we will learn about short path ditilation unit the essential oils extracted from plant petals. There are many plants that can extract essential oils from petals, such as rose essential oil, rosemary essential oil, jasmine essential oil, peony essential oil, lavender essential oil, osmanthus essential oil and so on.

Steps to extract essential oils from petals:

Extracting essential oils from petals has always been a topic of concern in the industry. Today we will discuss the extraction steps. The extraction steps are mainly divided into four steps:

(1) Drying: drying the petals, drying and dehydrating the petals.

(2) Extraction: After mixing the petal raw material and the acidic ethanol-water solution, extracting at room temperature and filtering to obtain the extract;

(3) Concentration and filtration: adding vegetable oil to the extract, mixing under reduced pressure to remove ethanol to obtain a concentrated solution, and filtering the concentrated solution to remove the water phase to obtain an oil layer;

(4) Centrifugation: add water to the oil layer and centrifuge, take out the oil layer after freezing and centrifugation, and repeat 1-5 times to obtain the target product.

Let us describe the extraction steps in detail:

To dry the petals using a spray dryer:

The collected petals are screened by a screening machine to remove impurities such as mud blocks and rotten leaves, and then the petals are sent to a washing machine for cleaning for 30 minutes, and then dried by a drying machine for 30 minutes. Machine drying, drying and dehydration, box type closed dryer belongs to intermittent drying equipment, which is mainly composed of box body, shelf, heater, fan, exhaust port, airflow distributor, etc. The outer wall of the box body (drying room) has a thermal insulation layer, and the shelf is used to place the petals after screening, cutting, cleaning and water drainage. Fans are used to force clean air in and expel moist gases. The drying heat source may be a far-infrared heater installed in the cabin, or may be hot air input from outside the cabin. Drying temperature is 70 ℃, and drying time is 4 hours.

Extract petals using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction:

The supercritical extractor only needs to change the pressure and temperature of the extractant fluid, and the different components in the sample can be extracted successively according to their solubility in the fluid. The increase of , the substances with larger polarity and large molecular weight and the basic properties, so performing supercritical extraction under the programmed pressure boost can obtain different extraction components, and at the same time can also play the role of separation.

The freshly picked flower petals are dried in the dark, and the moisture is controlled to 25%. The dried petals are placed in a freezer at minus 20°C for 8 hours, and the raw materials are pulverized with a freezer pulverizer for later use; use supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, Extraction condition is: extraction temperature 50 DEG C, extraction pressure 32MPa, carbon dioxide flow rate is 280kg/h, extraction time 1.5 hour, separate outlet petal extract;

Concentrate and filter the petal extract using short path distillation:

Short path distillation is a method of separating mixtures based on differences in boiling points in liquid mixtures under negative pressure. When the sample mixture to be purified is heated, the vapour evaporates and rises into the vertical condenser, which is subsequently cooled by water. This technique is used for compounds that are not stable at high temperatures because it guarantees a lower boiling point.

The petal extract obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction and extraction is carried out to one-level short-path distillation, and the operating conditions are: vacuum degree 5Pa, film scraping speed 350r/min, heating time 3h, inner condenser temperature 15 ℃, distillation temperature 115 ℃. After refining, the first-grade petal essential oil can be obtained.

Oil-water separation using a centrifuge:

After using the short-path distillation to concentrate and filter the petal extract, the essential oil obtained is put into a centrifuge and water is added, and the oil-water mixture of the petal is separated from oil and water, and the upper layer separation liquid is the petal essential oil, and the lower layer separation liquid is the petal flower water; then take out The oil layer is repeated one to five times. Finally, molecular distillation technology is used to further separate the essential oil products, which can not only fully recover the essential oil products, but also improve the application properties of the essential oil products, make them basically odorless, and significantly expand the application scope of the product.

The above are the detailed steps for extracting essential oils from petals. So what are the advantages of essential oils? Essential oils are lipophilic and can be easily dissolved in oils. The molecular chains of essential oils are short, which makes them easy to penetrate into the skin and enter the body through the abundant capillaries under the subcutaneous fat. Essential oils are composed of some very small molecules. These highly volatile substances can be absorbed by the nasal mucosa and enter the body, sending messages directly to the brain, through the limbic system of the brain, to regulate emotions and physiological functions of the body. Every plant essential oil has a chemical structure that determines its aroma, color, fluidity and how it works with the system, giving each plant essential oil a special set of functional properties.
